DANCING GNOME x HONEY BURUNDI
A collaboration with our friends at the renowned brewery Dancing Gnome in Pittsburgh, PA. The name 82.6 represents the distance between the brewery and our shop in Morgantown, WV.
This coffee comes form the Gakenke Washing Station in the Kayanza province of Burundi. Farmers in this area have very small farms, usually less than half a hectare, growing coffee as well as other fruits. Because of this most do not process their own coffees themselves and take them to a washing station to do so. Gakenke has developed a great reputation of producing heavy figgy, fruity and lively coffees with nice acidity, reminiscent of Malbec. Though it cannot be traced to an individual farmer, this microlot is a selection of a day lot from Gakenke. Honey processed coffees are not common in Burundi, but many washing stations are experimenting with them now. The coffee cherries are pulped to remove the bulk of the fruit then immediately placed on raised beds for drying, being rotated to allow the remaining fruit on the coffee bean to dry and impart subtle fruit flavors in the coffee.
